Summer Religion Camp

July 28-August 1, 2008

Rome A.D. 70   First Christians
Theme: Celebration of the Eucharist

Imagine being a Christian and living in Rome in the year 70 A.D. The Temple in Jerusalem has been destroyed. We Christians now must find our own way. We belong to a House Church which gathers to hear the stories of Jesus and to share in the “Breaking of the Bread”. What is life like in Rome at this time for Christians? What are the stories that people are telling about Jesus? What is our House Church like? What kinds of clothing do we wear? What kinds of food do we eat?

Join us July 28-August 1, 2008 as we journey back to the earliest days of Christianity and how it was practiced in Rome. Gather with us each morning in our House Churches as we come together to hear the Word and learn about how we worship together. Join us as members of our community tell us what they have heard about the stories of Jesus. Join us in the Roman Square as we spread the Good News while visiting some of the many shops such as Fresco Painting, Scroll Making, Bakery, Weavers, Theater, Glassworks and many more.

Children age 6-11 participate in the camp and a pre-school program is offered for our youngest campers, ages 3-5. Youth volunteers can earn service hours for their work at camp.

More information and registration materials for the 2008 summer camp will be available in the spring. Many volunteers, both teens and adults, are needed to make our camp a success! This is a really fun faith experience for everyone involved.
