1st Reconciliation & Eucharist Info & Registration Form

Note: If you plan for your child to celebrate First Eucharist this coming spring, 2008, the Archdiocese of Washington requires that your child prepare for the sacrament of Reconciliation first, in the fall of 2007.

The 2007-08 school year represents a transition year at St Rose for our First Reconciliation and Eucharist preparation process. This is the last year preparation will be homestudy based. Beginning in the 2008-09 school year, we are excited to announce that preparation for both sacraments will be integrated into our second grade Religious Education curriculum!

During this 2007-08 school year, we ask that all children in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades who have NOT yet celebrated Reconciliation and/or Eucharist prepare for the sacraments this year. Children younger than grade 2 are ineligible to prepare this year – we look forward to serving them in second grade in the future. Reconciliation preparation will begin in mid-September with parent meetings. PARENTS – for your convenience, the Reconciliation Preparation schedule is printed below – please mark your calendars now. PLEASE REMEMBER, if your child does not prepare for Reconciliation this fall, she or he is ineligible to prepare for Eucharist this spring! Preparation for the sacrament of Reconciliation is offered only once each year, in the fall.

Reconciliation Preparation Schedule, 2007-2008 School Year

Parent Meeting #1: Thursday, Sept, 20 OR Friday, Sept 21, 7:30pm-9:00pm, Isaiah Room (you only need to attend one of these meetings)

Please bring your COMPLETED registration form and $50 sacramental prep fee to this gathering.

Parent Meeting #2: Friday, Oct 5, 7:30-9:00pm, Church

Parent & Child Gathering: Saturday, November 3, 9:30-11:00am, Church Lower Level (childcare will be provided for older & younger siblings)

Family Session: Friday, November 30, 7:00-9:00pm OR Saturday, Dec 1, 9:30-11:30am, Church Lower Level (siblings welcome; you only need to attend one of these sessions)

First Reconciliation Celebration: Friday, December 14, 5:30pm (if you cannot attend this service, please contact Cheryl after Nov 1 – cshalgian@strose.com)
